Peggy S. Jenkins, age 82, peacefully passed away on January 9, 2026, at ThedaCare Appleton. She was born on November 18, 1943, Morganfield, KY to the late George “G.T” and Viola (Detraz) Henshaw. She grew up with her 9 siblings in Union County, KY. Following high school, she married John “J.J.” Jenkins in November of 1962, who was her high school sweetheart. J.J. was in the Air Force, and during his service, the couple lived in Wyoming, California and Montana. They truly enjoyed the American West and the Rockies and remained there many years after John’s service was complete. They retired to Kentucky and their hometown in their later years.
As an Air Force wife, Peggy lived and travelled around the country. Peggy and John enjoyed camping and outdoor activities. Visits to her daughter and her family were highlights. In addition to gardening and walking, Peggy enjoyed square dancing with John. She loved to be active.
Peggy acquired many skills throughout her life including sewing, quilting, crocheting and gardening. Even while busy, Peggy was often thinking of others, especially her three grandchildren. She always made sure to send cards and prayers their way. Peggy’s love for her family and her faith was evident to all. Her kind-hearted and thoughtful presence will be greatly missed. She enjoyed playing games with friends and family, this was always a competitive affair-she simply loved to share time with her favorite people.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Dana Weber, her grandchildren: Sonya (Bob) Jones, Nicholas (Emma) Weber, Dani Weber; great grandchildren: Benedict, Carly, and Charles. She is further survived by siblings: Judy (Kenny) Willett, Kenny (Alice) Henshaw, Agnes (Steve) Girten, Johnny (Debbie) Henshaw, Ann (fiancé Don French) Toth, Gail (Eddie) Sheffer, Cindy (Geroge) Payne, Kevin (Marybeth) Henshaw, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years John Jenkins, her daughter Sonya Jenkins, her parents, and siblings Stanley Henshaw, Ronnie Henshaw, Eddie Ray Henshaw.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30am on Friday January 16, 2026, St Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W Marquette Street, Appleton. Friends and family may gather at the church from 10:00am until 11:15am. Peggy will be laid to rest in her home state of Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Biking for Babies or to John Paul II Catholic School in Peggy’s name. In addition, please organize a game night in her memory.
