Paz C. Guidote, 95, of Appleton died as a result of an accident on Sunday May 29, 2011. She was born February 20, 1916 in the Philippines, a daughter of the late Valentin and Vicenta (deLeon) Guidote.
Paz served the United States and the Philippines during WWII as a First Lieutenant in the Philippine Army, as part of the Philippine resistance to the Japanese occupation. She was a retired physician, Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Paz was a faithful member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Appleton.
Paz is survived by a son, Joseph (Lynn) Guidote, Menasha; two grandchildren, Joshua, and Dara; sister, Josefina Bocalbos, St. Paul, Minnesota, and a brother, Jose Guidote, Quezon City, Philippines. She was preceded in death by 10 siblings.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday June 2, 2011 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 West Marquette Street, Appleton, with Fr. Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the hour of service.
Paz's family would like to give a special thank you to the Renaissance Assisted Living staff, the Appleton Police Department, Appleton Medical Center ER staff, and the congregation of St. Pius. We would also like to thank her friends, Harlan and Judy Gruber, Louis and Zeny Duenas, and Toni Binzak, who all helped her fulfill her spiritual journey at St. Pius.
