Patricia Bernice Sutheimer

January 30, 1941 — May 7, 2023

Appleton

Patricia Bernice (Seidl) Sutheimer went to her eternal rest on Sunday, May 7th, 2023, at the age of 82. In her last few weeks, she was surrounded by her large, loving family who prayed with and cared for her.

Pat was born January 30th, 1941 in Appleton, WI to parents Henry and Jeanette (Roehl) Seidl. She attended grade school at Sacred Heart in Appleton and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Menasha in 1959. She was married for 63 years to the love of her life, Kenneth Sutheimer. They were united in marriage on January 23, 1960 at Sacred Heart Parish in Appleton, WI.

Pat is survived by her beloved husband Ken and their eight children: Debbie Dengel, Janet, Cathy (Greg) Mekuly, Daniel (JoAnn), Carolyn (Chris) Olson, Lisa (Joe) Lamers, Pamela (Mike) Michlig, and Brian (Amie); 14 grandchildren: Joe (Nikki), Tom, Jocelyn (Geoff), Scott, Courtney (Matt), Breanna, Luke (Heather), Adam, Nathan (Justis), Maria, Ben, Mallory (fiancé Ryan), Allison, and Natalie; and three great-grandchildren: Harper, Sophie, and Liam, with another one on the way. She is also survived by her half-brother, Neil Seidl; step-sisters, Linda Klein and Mary Zander; sister-in-law, Marlene Sutheimer; brother-in-law, Ken Wolff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Jeanette (Roehl) Seidl; parents-in-law, Carl and Viola (Massey) Sutheimer; sister, Rita (Peotter); and sisters- and brothers-in-law: Audrey, Alice, Melvin, Dolores, Doris Wolff, and Dorothy (Ken) Winkler.

Pat will be remembered for her dedication to her family. She stayed at home to raise her children and care for her grandchildren, and also babysat for other families. Those close to her will remember regularly eating her famous potato salad and Thanksgiving dressing and gathering to play cards. Pat used her creativity to express her love for those she adored. She was an avid knitter and created beautiful, highly sought-after dish cloths, mittens, hats, and blankets. The most cherished were the slippers, hand-knit baptismal gowns, and sweaters with the trains, ducks, Humpty Dumpty, and more. In addition to knitting, Pat also enjoyed making handmade greeting cards for family and friends. She also shared cards with St. Bernadette Parish ministry, where she and Ken were members for 63 years.
