Norman Olson, 86, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at home.
Norman was born on May 16, 1925 to the late Bernard and Hilda (Meyer) Olson in Racine. He married Lucille Thums on August 21, 1948, in Rib Lake. He served in the US Navy from 1945 until 1946. Norman worked at the Hurd Window manufacturing Company until 1970 when he moved to Appleton and then worked for the Appleton School District until his retirement in 1987. He loved the outdoors and hunting and fishing. Norman was a member of the Happy Hopper Club and Spirit Legion Post #452.
Norman is survived by his children, Shirley (Glenn) Nikkila, Medford; Sandra Olson, Walworth, Wisconsin; Sharon (Steven) Havel, Appleton; and Jerome Olson, Shiocton; his grandchildren, Coreen (Virgil) Wilcox; Jeffery Nikkila; Jason Havel (special friend, Sonia Wiesner); Matthew (Janna) Havel; Jenny and Beth Olson; his great grandchildren, Jessica and Samantha Campbell, Erica Nikkila; and Nathan Janssen; his sister, Marion Stiel, Wausau. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Norman was preceded in death by his wife Lucille, his son Gerald, and brothers and sisters; Marvin Olson, Harry Olson, Myrtle Tripp, Evelyn Thums, Harold Olson and infant twin brothers Albert and Bernard Jr.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Appleton. Friends may call directly at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park.
