Norma Ruth Elaine Howard

Norma Howard, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. She was born on June 28, 1935, in Sisseton, South Dakota, the daughter of August and Ragna (Rustand) Meyer. She was united in marriage to Donald Howard on November 24, 1954, in Browns Valley, MN, and they shared 68 years together until he preceded her in death on March 3, 2023. Norma worked at Zwickers Knitting Mills for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, watching Wheel of Fortune, playing cards and dominos, and ballroom and square dancing over the years. Norma will be remembered most for her love of family, especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and cat Sparky.

Norma is survived by 4 children: Mavis Howard, Jane (Bob) Winter, Dale (Kathy) Howard, and Duane (Sara) Howard; daughter-in-law: Shelly Howard; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; a sister: Ruby Jacobson; 2 sisters-in-law: Betty Meyer and Dorothy Meyer; many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Norma was further preceded in death by her sons: Darold Howard and David Howard; a grandchild: Bobby Weber; and a great grandchild: Samantha Manos; siblings: Marie Richards, Arnold Meyer, Clarence Meyer, Elmer Meyer, Lillian Carlson, and Beatrice Harding; her brother-in-law, Ronald (Sharon) Howard; and her sisters-in-law: Bev (Richard) Heck and Genevieve (Bob) Mietzner.

Norma’s family will greet guest from 3:00pm until 6:00pm, on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton.
