RUYS, NICHOLAS “NICK”

Nicholas Ruys, of Kimberly, age 85 years, died Friday, January 13, 2012 in the comfort of his home with the support of his family. He was born on August 10, 1926 in Kimberly, the son of the late Peter, Sr. and Johanna (VanderHeiden) Ruys. Nicholas married Grace Bruecker on September 18, 1952 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna. Nick served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a machinist from RePap in Kimberly. Nick was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Kimberly.

Nick is survived by his seven children: Steve (Karen) Ruys, Lynn (David) Ebben, Randy (Karen) Ruys, Robyn (Steve) Noel, Dan (Terri) Ruys, Neal Ruys and Matt (Gina) Ruys; twenty grandchildren: Nick Ruys and Jackie (Elliott) North; Matt, Brad (Andrea) Ebben and Danielle Ebben; Ben (Katie) Ruys, Luke (Amanda) Ruys and Kari (Eric) Rasmussen; Amanda (Matt) Rotter, Jenna and Terra Noel; Travis, Josh and Jennifer Ruys; Jake and Leanna Ruys; Kristin, Erin, Mitch and Katie Ruys; six great grandchildren: Easton Ebben; Reegan and Grace Ruys; Tristen and Kendra Ruys; Olivia Rasmussen and sister-in-law: Marie Ruys. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Nicholas was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; sisters: Anna (George) Hopfensperger, Sister Johanna Ruys and Sister Alberta Ann Ruys; brothers: Albert (Irene) Ruys and Peter Ruys.

The funeral liturgy for Nicholas will be held at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, 600 E. Kimberly Ave. with Fr. David Beaudry and Fr. Bob Vandenberg officiating. Inurnment will take place at Holy Name Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 pm until the time of mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to ThedaCare at Home Hospice or Holy Spirit Parish are appreciated.
