Obituary

NaVonne Marie Green, age 80, passed away on June 1, 2026. She was born at St. Elizabeth Hospital on October 31, 1945, to Harvey and Louise (Konitzer) Werth. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and then graduated from Xavier High School in 1963. In 1956, at the age of 11, NaVonne met Pete Green, and they were together ever since. They married on August 6, 1966, and shared 59 years of marriage. Truly, they shared a lifetime.

NaVonne and Pete had two sons plus special son Will. Once the kids were in school, she began work at Secura Insurance and remained there for 25 years. She retired in 2007. Her sons recall “the look” any time they did something not quite up to snuff.

In 1967, Pete wanted a “fast back” car, while NaVonne preferred a convertible. Pete relented and the Mustang was purchased. For nearly 60 years, Pete lamented saying “yes dear” and losing out on his fast back. NaVonne will make her final trip to St Margaret Cemetery in her beloved Mustang with Pete at the wheel.

NaVonne loved gardening and especially enjoyed tending her roses. Every year for 15 years, she accompanied Pete on their annual fishing trips to Canada. She loved that time at Cedar Lake Camp on 105 and didn’t even mind fishing in the rain. In addition, there were many trips in the RV to the national parks and scenic places. Her favorite trip might have been the two-month adventure they had in Alaska.

NaVonne enjoyed living in the one and only house they ever had on Lake Winnebago. She wasn’t exactly a fan of the lake flies, but it was a small price to pay to be on the lake. The 50 weeks of the year without the flies were the best, and she would spend hours on the sunporch watching the wildlife.

NaVonne is survived by her husband Pete, sons Peter (Sondra), Mike (Nikki), Will (Cheryl); 3 grandchildren. 6 great grandchildren; her sister Carol (Richard) and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service for NaVonne is currently being planned and will be updated when details become available.

NaVonne was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2020 and made the best of it for nearly 6 years. Her passing was very quick and comfortable with her husband Pete and her son Peter by her side. She spent the last 16 months at Valley VNA. There could not have been a better place or people to walk her through her final days.

The family would like to thank every employee at Valley VNA for the care they showed not only NaVonne but each of the residents in their care.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice in NaVonne’s memory.
