Nancy J. (Van Vechten) Mueller, age 96, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Cherry Meadows Hospice. She was a longtime resident at The Heritage in Fox Crossing, Wisconsin.
Nancy was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Roger and Irma (Rohlfing) Van Vechten. She married her loving husband, Carl A. Mueller, on May 15, 1954. He preceded her in death in 2007 after 53 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Helen Van Vechten, and Douglas and Jackie Van Vechten.
She graduated from Milwaukee Downer Seminary School in 1946 and went on to Prospect Hall Business School, graduating in 1948.
As a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Appleton, she served as a Sunday School Teacher and sewed clothing for church missions. She was a Chalice Circle of Kings Daughters member and served as president and manager for the Church’s “Put and Take” resale shop run by the Circle for Charity.
Nancy enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and downhill skiing in her younger years. She made many new friends while living at The Heritage in her later years. Nancy’s greatest joy was being a homemaker. She enjoyed baking and sharing delicious holiday treats with her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Daniel (Cynthia) Mueller, Combined Locks, and Thomas (Cheryl) Mueller, Appleton, and one daughter, Barbara (James) Kusilek, River Falls; three grandchildren, Christopher (Nicki) Mueller, Kelsey (Zak) Albrecht, and Bailey Kusilek. Her biggest wish before she passed was to meet great-grandson Parker James Albrecht who arrived on March 7, 2023.
Funeral services for Nancy J. Mueller will be held on Friday, March 17th, at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E. Glendale St, Appleton, WI, with Pastor Dan Thews officiating. Friends may call at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
