Nancy A. McCormick (nee Hahnen), age 80 of Appleton, WI passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026, surrounded by her family. Nancy was born on January 23rd, 1946, in Neenah, daughter of the late Billy and Marjorie Hahnen. She graduated from Menasha High School in 1964 and maintained many of those friendships throughout her life. After graduating from high school, she began her career at Kimberly Clark. After meeting her future husband, David, in the Summer of 1965, they were married on February 19, 1966, and moved to Norfolk, VA as David was stationed there for the U.S. Navy. They happily moved back to Menasha in 1968 and settled there for a few years. In 1970, they welcomed their daughter, Shannon, and bought a house where they still continue to live today. In 1973, they were blessed with another daughter, Shelby. After spending several years as a stay-at-home mom, Nancy did return to the work force with Valley Periodontics followed by over 20 years with Kimberly Clark. Family meant everything to Nancy – As the family expanded through marriages and the birth of four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, her love for family grew even more. She was the #1 cheerleader for her kids and grandkids at soccer, baseball, track, swimming, choir, and band concerts. All of her fondest memories included her family. Saturday game nights were always filled with lots of fun and laughter. In her spare time, Nancy loved doing puzzles, watching cooking and mystery shows on TV. She also loved a good sci-fi movie along with disaster movies.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, David; her children, Shannon Koplitz and Shelby (John) Weber; her beloved grandchildren, Brady, Jack, Lauren (Tyler), and Taylor; and her great-grandchildren, Amelia and Noah. She is further survived by her brother, Art Hahnen (Linda Warner); sisters-in-law, Chrissy McLaughlin and Jane McCormick; brother-in-law, Joseph (Brenda) McLaughlin; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. She also will be greatly missed by her & David’s very best friends of 55 years, Jim and Ellen Lutz. Their weekly Canasta games were something they all cherished.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Marjorie; their son-in-law, Terry; three brothers-in-law, Tom, Alan, and Patrick; and two sisters-in-law, Connie and Cindy.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Elizabeth Hospital for their compassion and care during this most difficult time.
