Murna M. Wolfgram

July 19, 1923 — September 5, 2009

Murna Wolfgram was called to her Lord's loving arms on September 5, 2009 with her family at her side. She was 86 years old. Murna was born in Appleton on May 19, 1923, daughter of the late William and Dora (Werner) Reichel. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1941, and as a young woman worked for the Appleton News Agency, Aid Association for Lutherans, and Vorpahl's Furniture. On November 25, 1942, she married Ruben Vorpahl at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton. In 1954, when Ruben was only thirty-two, he suffered a fatal heart attack and left behind his young wife Murna, and a son Roger. On June 27, 1959, Murna married Chester Wolfgram. Chet passed away in 2004. Murna was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, and felt so blessed to have been baptized, confirmed, and married at the same altar. She was also a former member and past officer of its Ladies Aid. Chet and Murna were members of the Valley Rock Club and enjoyed rock hunting and making items from their finds. They also enjoyed spending time fishing and boating at their cottage on Lake Poygan, spending time with the may dogs they had, and also looked forward to the various travels they planned.

Murna is survived by her son: Roger (Rose) Vorpahl of Appleton; two granddaughters: Jackie (boyfriend Randy Koller) Vorpahl and their son Tyler; and Janet Seidel. There are two nieces and a nephew: Nancy Kulick, Sherry (Dan) Jacob, and Ronald (Sue) Wolfgram; and all of their children: Randy (Kelly) Mohnen, Alex Mohnen, Jake Mohnen, Randy Kulick, Jerry (Jody) Van Ryzin, and Chloe Van Ryzin. There are also nieces and nephews too many to name in the Vorpahl and Wolfgram families. Murna is also survived by several dear friends: Doloris Juneau, Myrna Eisentraut, Eileen Steingraber, Helen and Clarence Sturm, Jack and Gloria Gross, Harriet and David Sadowski, and Diane Zimmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, sisters Luella Wolfgram, Laura Reichel, Mildred Reichel; and two great-grandchildren Dakota and Kiarra Seidel.

The Christian Funeral for Murna will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street in Appleton with Rev. Paul Jenkins officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service.
