Michel Y. Roy, MD

Michel Yves Roy, M.D., a longtime resident of Bailey’s Harbor, Wisconsin and Marshfield, Wisconsin, died on July 15, 2025, in Appleton, WI. He was born on May 29, 1931, in Paris, France to the late Yves Roy and Simone (Colas) Roy.

Michel grew up in Paris, France, his childhood greatly impacted by the occupation of Paris during World War ll.

After completing medical school at the University of Paris, France, he arrived in Madison, Wisconsin in 1955 to begin his internship, followed by residency in general surgery and urology in Cleveland, Ohio. It was in Madison he met his beloved wife to whom he was married for 68 years. Michel practiced urology first in Cleveland, Ohio, and then in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Michel and Judy retired to Baileys Harbor, WI where they experienced a very active life together. He insisted that he loved washing the dishes, he claimed he never took a nap (just resting his eyes!), and he persisted in plowing his driveway until he was in his late 80s.

Michel was eclectic in his interests and hobbies. Among them were amateur radio, photography, playing piano and flute, bicycling, unicycling, sailing, spinning and weaving.

Together Michel and Judy have 4 children by whom he is survived: Sylvie (Thong) Nguyen, Rockford, IL; Marc (Michelle) Roy, Albion, MI; Sarah (Mark) Kampf, Appleton, WI; Alain (Annalisa) Roy, Redmond, WA. In addition, Michel and Judy have 12 grandchildren; Ben, Sam, Jacqueline, Joel, Julia, Steven, Jacob, Michael, Carmen, Katie, Andrea and David, as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff at Compassus Hospice as well as the Pembrook staff at Touchmark.

A private service for the family is being planned.
