Michael P. Vandenberg, age 63, left this earth at his home, surrounded by family on May 11, 2026. He was born February 9, 1963, to Eugene Vandenberg and Ann Uehlein (Cotter). He graduated from St Mary’s High School in 1981. Following high school, he began work at Miller Electric. At one point he was laid off, and he then furthered his education at Fox Valley Tech and earned an AA in auto mechanics. During this time, he also began a family. He returned to Miller and finished his career there after 39 years, working his way up in responsibilities, that brought him to the position of Product Manager. He loved his work and the people he worked with.
While traveling for work, he encountered the ticket agent at the Green Bay airport who was destined to be the love of his life, Wanda Demboski. It truly was love at first sight for them both! They married 8 months later.
Mike loved spending time outdoors. He made many trips to Canada with his son Alex as well as many members of his extended family to fish. Anything outdoors provided joy for him. It was a place for him to ground himself and enjoy nature. He especially loved muskie fishing and brought his sons. The boys learned to enjoy casting for that elusive fish and appreciated the time spent with their dad.
Mike’s backyard was his “go to” place to relax. He installed an above ground pool years ago after several inflatable pools. He was meticulous in caring for the pool, so much so that 15 years later, it still looks like it’s brand new. He loved to play fetch in (or out of) the pool with his dogs.
Mike shared his knowledge and passion for working on cars with his son Mike. They shared many hours working on cars together and fixing up the beater that Mike drove during high school. Mike always enjoyed things with motors, and he and Wanda often went four-wheeling together with the dogs at the family cabin.
Michael is survived by his wife Wanda, his sons Michael (Ashley), Alexander (Brandy); grandchildren: Isla, Lux, Elle, Krue; father Eugene, mother Ann; siblings: Kevin (Erin), Rebecca (William) Kasper, Ellen (Michael) Safford; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends as well as Piper, his faithful furry friend.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother Luanne Vandenberg, and stepfather Edward Uehlein as well as aunts, uncles, other relatives, and furry companions: Ladie, Twister and Sunnie.
A memorial service will take place on Wednesday May 27, 2026, at 1:30pm at Wichmann Funeral Home-Fargo Chapel, 400 W Wisconsin Ave, Kaukauna. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 10:30am until the service begins. Mike will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery immediately following the service.
