Michael David Hurley, age 67, passed away on October 25, 2026, at home with his family at his side. He was born on May 23, 1959, in Milwaukee to the late David and Rosalie (Michaud) Hurley. Upon graduating from Appleton West in 1977, Mike went to work at Appleton Papers (now Appvion) and worked there for the next 40 years!
Mike enjoyed anything with an engine-he loved boats, snowmobiles and cars. He also enjoyed any and all time he was able to spend outside. He especially loved time spent on the family land in Pembine and racing around the snow trails there!
Mike had a bit of geek in him and also enjoyed electronics and was especially passionate about figuring out how things worked! He loved taking things apart and putting them back together. He had a natural ability to work with electronics and on computers. He enjoyed traveling as well.
Mike was a reserved guy who often hung back to observe the guests at a party. He was stubborn (sometimes to a fault) and was proud of his home and the things he was able to earn. He was someone who always met life’s challenges in his own way.
Mike is survived by his siblings: Helen (Todd) Johnson, Dave (Debbie) Hurley, James (Rita) Hurley; nieces and nephews: Josh (Alicia) Bruette, Amanda (Sergio) Galindo, Jason (Amanda) Hurley, Lauren (Tyler) Smith, Kendall Kaatz, Megan (Tom) Keddell, Scott Kees, Cooper (Kayla) Johnson, Paige (Nick) Blythe, Brett (Natalie) Hurley, Troy Hurley; as well as 13 great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents David and Rosalie, a sister Sue Bruette, and brother-in-law Clyde Kees and great niece Rowyn Ruth Keddell.
A memorial service for Mike will take place on Friday November 6, 2026, at 4:00pm at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N Superior Street, Appleton. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 2:00pm until the service begins.
Mike’s family extends sincere gratitude to Moments Hospice, especially Jamie, Lexie, Hannah, Quinta. In addition, a special thanks to Savannah.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.
