Mary C. Romberg was welcomed into eternal rest on September 14, 2023. She was lovingly surrounded by her family during her final days on this earth and passed peacefully.
Mary was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. She was born on December 27, 1942, in Clintonville, the daughter of Frank and Esther Jozwiak. Mary enjoyed a very happy life with her 5 siblings. On February 2, 1963, Mary was wed to the love of her life David Romberg. Together they had 3 children.
Mary worked as a secretary for many years. After she had kids, she interjected herself into whatever they were doing. She was scout leader, sang in the church choir, a lunch lady and worked in the school library for a while. Mary was elected the Town of Menasha clerk and was very well respected. She moved on to work in the service industry until she retired. Everything Mary did was exceptional. She was a very intelligent lady who was very ambitious. Her family would always be amazed at her sense of direction, and she rarely had to use a map. During any family get together Mary would offer to bring the pies. Not just one but usually 7 pies. Even if there were only 5 people!
David and Mary loved to travel with the kids or on their own. They would spend winters at Lake Meade and travel all over the western part of the country, often taking 3-week trips with the kids over the summer. Dave and Mary enjoyed motorcycling, boating, and snowmobiling together for many years.
When Mary had grandchildren, she would share with everyone that would listen, how proud she was of them. Braden inherited Mary’s green thumb, Darren got Mary’s strong socialization skills, Kyle is a master at aquatics and fish tanks. Ty got grandma’s driving skills and Tori received her infectious personality. Mary just loved to attend any events that her grandkids were involved in, such as Darren’s concerts or Ty’s races. She never missed a dance recital of Tori’s.
Mary is survived by her husband, David; 3 children: Debby Romberg, Dan (Pam) Romberg, and Susan (Brad) Majeski; grandchildren: Braden, Darren, and Kyle Romberg, Ty (Allison) and Tori Majeski; a brother: Tom Jozwiak; a sister-in-law: Betty Romberg; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; father- and mother-in-law: Arnold and Edna Romberg; brothers: Joe and John Jozwiak; sisters: Bonnie (Pat) Soufal and Margaret (Bob) Weber; sister- and brother-in-law: Ruth Jozwiak and Donald Romberg.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00am, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel, 1592 Oneida St., Menasha. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the chapel from 9:30am until the time of the service. A memorial fund will be established.
Mary will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The world will not be the same without her.
A special thanks goes out to Mary and David’s oldest daughter Debby. She committed her time to making sure Mary and David were taken care of in their later years by coordinating appointments, cooking and taking care of the house. They both often said they would be in a nursing home if it wasn’t for her.
