Mary Louise Podolski, 93, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, in Madison, WI where she lived with her daughter Frances Dachelet for the past 9 years.
Mary was born to Teofil and Mary Starzynski and grew up in a loving family alongside her siblings Irene Palzewic, Henry Starzynski, Louis Starzynski, Estelle Starzynski, Helen Nardi, Vicky Moore, Florence Gallagher, and Jenny Dul. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Philip Podolski.
A graduate of Stephenson High School in Michigan, Mary furthered her education through various classes at the UW Extension. She dedicated over 40 years of her career as a cost accountant at American Can Corporation, where her diligence and expertise were highly valued.
Mary’s life was enriched by her many passions and interests. She found joy in hosting Bible studies, tending to her vibrant gardens, and traveling across Europe with her beloved nephew Tony Nardi and his wife Karla. A talented Sheepshead player, she cherished weekly card games with friends and enjoyed Sunday drives with her husband. Her love for flowers, photography, singing, and time spent with family brought light to all who knew her.
Mary was a faithful member of Saint Mary’s Church in Menasha, WI. Her kindness and warmth left an indelible mark on those around her.
She is survived by her daughters Frances Dachelet (Jim Hansen) and Patricia Garrahy (Tom Garrahy); grandson Philip Dachelet (Jen Putzer and Blaze Allen); many nieces and nephews and the Curtis Dachelet family of Menasha.
A memorial visitation will be held beginning at noon on May 30, 2026, at Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha, WI 54952 with a service to follow at 1 PM. Mary will be laid to rest with her husband at St. Mary Cemetery in Menasha, WI at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Jude’s, Doctors Without Borders, or the Salvation Army in Mary’s honor. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
