Mary Jane Wisnefski

January 25, 1927 — March 23, 2020

Mary Jane (Sokolowski) Wisnefski passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020, at the age of 93.  She was born on January 25, 1927, to the late Frank and Martha (Smolinski) Sokolowski in Neenah, WI.   At St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Menasha, she married the love of her life, Alvin Wisnefski, on May 21, 1949.

Before her marriage, she was employed by the Marathon Co.  In later years, she was a seamstress at the Parrot Cage Clothing Shop in Neenah for 16 years.  Mary Jane was also a member of the Lady Falcons of Menasha.  She enjoyed living in Menasha her whole life.  Sewing was one of her favorite things, for herself as well as for others.  Some of her other favorite things were family, baseball (“Go Cubs”), being on the go, and playing a good hand of cards.

Mary Jane was blessed with three sons and one daughter, James (Kathy) Wisnefski of Bluffton, SC; Paul (Anne Tucker) Wisnefski of Saint Simons Island, GA; Mark Wisnefski of Menasha; and Diane Wisnefski of Menasha.

She took special pride in her three grandchildren, Michael (Rachel) Wisnefski, Bluffton, SC; Sarah (Todd) Johannsen, Oconomowoc, WI; and Cecelia (Rose) Wisnefski, Watertown, WI.

Mary Jane was also blessed with four great grandchildren, Sophie Grace, Scarlett Quinn, and Shelby Rose Wisnefski of Bluffton, SC; and Nora Ann Johannsen of Oconomowoc, WI.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alvin, in 2003.

Our special thanks to the nurses and staff at Parkview Health Center and ThedaCare at Home Hospice personnel for their excellent care and support.

Due to the current environment, a private family graveside service will be held at St. John Cemetery, Menasha. A Celebration of Life event will be held at a later date.
