Mary L. Jackson, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Appleton Medical Center.
Mary was born on October 1, 1922 in Rockford, Illinois to the late George and Emily (Younger) Jackson. She moved to Appleton when she was 1 year old and to her delight, she lived in the same house for the next 87 years. She was a graduate of the Appleton High School in 1941 and attended the Milwaukee Art Institute and the Appleton Business School. Mary was an accomplished artist and loved nature, she was an active member of the UCC Church Choir until recently. Mary loved music, enjoyed researching family history, and was a CLIO book club member. She also enjoyed traveling all around the world. Mary was a volunteer for meals on wheels and the Congregational Church.
Mary is survived by her sister Bonnie Mares, niece and nephews; Mark (Cindy) Offenstein, Julie (William) Van Den Brandt, David (Jan) Offenstein, and Peter (Nancy) Offenstein, great nieces and nephews; Scott, Kiley, Sadie, Nathan, Thaddeus, Jennie, Sarah, and Nick, other relatives and many friends.
A memorial service for Mary will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST (724 East South River St.) at 11:00 AM. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the Church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established at the First Congregational United Church of Christ for new choir robes.
