Mary was so happy to be received by our Lord and reunited with her husband Daniel Doverspike on May 15, 2025. Mary passed away peacefully at home with the loving care and assistance of Nicole Ebbens and in the arms of her daughter, Mary "Pee Wee". Her rescue-cat, Chessie was right alongside her.
Mary was born in Euclid, Ohio on March 12, 1932. She married Daniel Doverspike in Cleveland, Ohio on September 26, 1953. Her great love, Dan, died just weeks before their 50th anniversary. Mary was a long-term substitute teacher at Our Lady of Peace School in Cleveland, Ohio where her children attended school. At the Church of the Resurrection, Solon, Ohio, Mary served on the Parish Council in a variety of roles, including President. She and her husband also served as Religious Education teachers and were extremely active in building the first physical church. This is also where Mary started lectoring and distributing communion. Mary worked with underprivileged teens through the University of Wisconsin and was one of the founders of the first hospice in Neenah-Menasha, Wisconsin. After earning her Pastoral Associate certificate, Mary served in that role at St. Patrick's Church in Menasha, Wisconsin for nine years. Mary delivered Meals on Wheels, educated and promoted the Wisconsin organ transplant program with her husband Dan, was a vital member and spiritual leader for St. Vincent de Paul Neenah-Menasha, and was the coordinator for the BeFriender Ministry. She was also a lector until just a few weeks before she died.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; her 4 siblings, Blanche Heimburger, Dion Mannen, Rita Quade, and Jack Mannen; and her grandson, Daniel "Danny" Doverspike. She is survived by her children, Dr. Dennis (Ida) Doverspike of Akron, Ohio, Dr. Joan (Dr. Don) Davison of Maitland, Florida, Mary "Pee Wee" Doverspike Jr. of Neenah, Wisconsin, and John "Jack" (Christine) Doverspike of Neenah, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Meaghan Praznik (Michael), Thomas "Tommy" Doverspike (significant other Olivia Flinn), and Erin Davison (Dr. Mauricio da Silva Medeiros); and several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Resurrection for Mary will be held Friday, May 23, 2025 at 4 P.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 320 Nicolet Blvd. Menasha, Wisconsin. Friends and family will be received at the church from 2 p.m. until the hour of the funeral mass (parking and doors in the rear).
