Mary E. Connelly, age 58, peacefully passed away September 13, 2010 surrounded by family members following a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born in Davenport, Iowa and lived in the Fox Valley for twenty-two years. She was a nurse and nurse practitioner for nearly forty years, finishing her career at Affinity's Women's Health Group at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She loved her work and was a compassionate caregiver to her many patients.
Mary will be sadly missed by her husband: Thomas J. Connelly; her daughters Erin M. (John) Orth, Megan K. (Brad) Olson, and Caitlin A. Connelly; grandchildren: Anabelle E. Orth and Samuel C. Olson; her parents: Michael J. and Mary L. Conroy; her brothers: Michael Conroy, Robert Conroy, Timothy (Rochelle) Conroy, Gregory (Jo) Conroy, Stephen (Deb) Conroy, Jeffrey (Evette) Conroy, and David (Mary) Conroy; and by her sister: Christine (Edwin) Wilson; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mary loved spending time with her family and especially her two grandchildren. The grandchildren loved their “Grammy” very much and always looked forward to spending time with her and having their bellies tickled.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. This will be followed by a memorial service at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 17, 2010, also at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology for their excellent care and support, especially Jamie, Rosemary, Dr. Timothy Goggins, and nurse practitioner Jennifer Greiner. Special thanks also to Dr. Nancy Homburg.
Mary, we will always feel blessed to have had you as a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. You will always be in our hearts and remembered lovingly.
