Mary Ann Stoeger, 94, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at the Valley VNA, Neenah. She was born on October 21, 1927, in Appleton, the daughter of Elmer Sr. and Mae (Schmitt) Brown. Mary Ann had a strong Catholic faith and love for family. She enjoyed looking at Christmas lights, family round robins, maintaining an impeccable flower garden, going to the cottage up north, playing scrabble, and watching the Packers and Brewers. Mary Ann also liked to decorate, travel; especially to Hawaii, Florida, and out West, eating Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and providing entertaining moments at the Valley VNA. She was united in marriage to Robert Stoeger on June 5, 1948, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton, and he preceded her in death on October 15, 2007.
Mary Ann is survived by her children: Mary Jo Stoeger, Rick (Julie) Stoeger; a grandson: Ryan Stoeger; a sister-in-law: Vangie Stoeger; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Ann was further preceded in death by an infant son: Randal Robert Stoeger; 2 brothers: Elmer (Edith) Brown Jr. and Gordan (Unis) Brown; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Lloyd Stoeger, Helen (Edgar) Milhaupt, John (Lorraine) Stoeger, and Norman (Jane) Stoeger.
Funeral liturgy for Mary Ann will be held at 10:00 am, on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 W. Lawrence St., Appleton. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the church from 8:30 am until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Joseph Parish, Appleton or the Valley VNA, Neenah.
Mary Ann’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Valley VNA and Compassus Hospice for their compassion, dedication, and support, along with family and friends for the outpouring of kindness during this journey.
