Marvin John Nennig, age 96 of Menasha, WI peacefully entered eternal life on March 26, 2026. He was born on September 11, 1929 in Chilton, WI to Michael and Mary (Nett) Nennig. Marvin graduated from Chilton High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later attended Green Bay Technical School where he earned his degree in barbering. Marvin went on to work as a barber in Appleton for 50 years. Known for his warm smile and easy conversation, he built lasting relationships with generations of clients.
Marvin married Rita (Parsons) Nennig in 1954. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. An avid outdoorsman, Marvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time at family cottages. He also had a passion for running and completed numerous marathons into his late sixties. In his later years, he enjoyed volunteering at Ascension Hospital.
Marvin is survived by his beloved wife, Rita; his sons, Mike (Shelley) and Todd (Patty) Nennig; his daughter-in-law, Kim Nennig; his grandchildren, Eric (Michelle) Nennig, Michelle (Stephen) Hesson, Sam Nennig, Danny Nennig, Brandon Jorgensen, Bryan (Charlotte) Jorgensen, Taylor Jorgensen, and Trevor Jorgensen; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.
Marvin is preceded in death by his beloved sons, Richard and Scott Nennig; and several siblings and siblings-in-law.
A memorial visitation will be held for Marvin from 9-11 AM on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E Fremont St, Appleton, WI 54915 with a mass to follow at 11 AM. Marvin will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton, WI.
Marvin’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and other supporting staff at Oakridge Gardens for their care, compassion, and expertise during Marvin’s time of need.
