“Butch”

Age 66, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, January 30, 2011. He was born in Appleton on July 22, 1944 the son of the late Kenneth “Jake” and Katherine (Metris) Van Ryzin. On June 11, 1966 he married his wife of 30 years, Kathleen Drover. Butch worked for Van Ryzin Machine Company, which was founded by his family, and then retired from Lapham Hickey Steel. He will be remembered for his love of the North Woods; hunting, fishing and making sure there was plenty of wood to stay warm.
Butch is survived by his sons: Ken (Karyn) Van Ryzin of Appleton and Kevin (Erin) Van Ryzin of Oshkosh; grandchildren: David, Alex, Kyler, Elizabeth, Katie, and Taylor Van Ryzin; and sisters: Betty Van Ryzin, Rhonda (Roger) Haines and Nancy Kriesel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen; and his son, Brian.
The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
The family extends a special thank you to Butch's sister, Betty, for her outstanding and compassionate care of Butch.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Butch's name is being established.
