Obituary

Mark D. Wunderlich, age 78, passed away on June 30, 2026, with his wife Connie at his side, holding his hand. He was born at St Elizabeth Hospital on April 3, 1948, to Carlye and Elmyra (Schulze) Wunderlich. He was raised in Greenville with his 7 siblings. It was a home filled with both chaos and love. Shortly after graduating from Hortonville High School, he entered the US Marine Corp and served in Vietnam.

After returning from his military service he returned to the Fox Valley and daughters Julie and Kelly arrived. The girls were teenagers when single dad Mark met Connie Palmer Winter while attending church. Connie was a single mom of two active boys, and they shared many friend circles and interests. It was a match made in heaven, and they married about a year after meeting. They shared over 41 years together.

Mark loved golfing, gardening, birdwatching, and rooting for Badgers, Brewers and the Packers. Mark spent many football seasons in the Badgers and Packers stands as a season ticket holder. He and Connie attended many professional golf tournaments around the US throughout the years. They enjoyed traveling to many locations both stateside and worldwide. They had adventures in Hawaii, Italy, Alaska, California, New York and enjoyed a special cruise on the Danube River.

Mark worked as a sales manager for various logistics and transportation companies. He was a professional “Schmoozer” and made everyone around him feel valued. His true passion was helping others. He volunteered at Ruby’s Pantry, assisted in men’s ministries groups at church and was instrumental in coordinating compassion pantries at local high schools for students in need. He provided support for the homeless as well in providing meals-Mark was always the “hamburger guy.” He helped at Jakes Network of Hope to provide diapers, and other items to families in need. Christmas was also a special time where Mark was active in the Salvation army toy drive both handing out gifts and ringing bells.

Mark is survived by his wife Connie, his daughters Julie Wunderlich, Kelly (Brian) Healy, sons Nathan (Lavinia) Winter, Adam (Dana) Winter. He is further survived by his siblings: Ted Wunderlich, Neal (Debbi) Wunderlich, Kris Wunderlich, sisters-in-law Nancy Wunderlich, Sherri Wunderlich, Cindy (Tim) Wehman, brother-in-law Dr Doug (Rebecca) Palmer as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: Jim Wunderlich, Jerry Wunderlich, Lynn (Tom) Sexton, Lee Wunderlich, sister-in-law Sandy Wunderlich; his parents-in-law Jack and Ilene Palmer.

A memorial service and celebration of life is being planned. Details will be updated when they become available.

Kindness was a kind of addiction for Mark. “Be kind” he would say, just “Be kind.”
