Mark J. Huntington

October 25, 1964 — August 18, 2023

Appleton

Mark J. Huntington, 58, passed away August 18th, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends, following a brief battle with cancer.   Mark was born October 25th, 1964 to Joseph Huntington and Maureen Zuleger in Shawano.  After graduating from Bonduel High School, he attended UW Stevens Point where he was known as “Boo-Boo” and met “the greatest love of his life for over 35 years”, Mary Kieffer.  They were united in marriage at Saint James Lutheran Church in Shawano on July 16th, 1988.  Shortly after Mary graduated from UW Stevens Point, they moved to Appleton with their newly born son, Nathan to start their first true careers, buy their first house, and be blessed with a second son, Justin. Mark worked as Operations Manager at Sarge’s A1 Rental / RSC Corporation until 2006 then worked various managerial positions for Service Motor Company, Inc and has been there the past 17 years.

Mark had a love for the outdoors.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time on his pontoon, riding his motorcycle, traveling with his family, and taking road trips.  Mark was very involved in his boy’s activities, whether it was chauffeuring, volunteering, or coaching, he was always there.  He accompanied his wife to dog competitions and was Kiki’s biggest fan.  He also had a passion for NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers, collecting little red tractors, and black bears.

Mark was strong-willed and stubborn at times but had an enormous heart.  He always put everyone else’s needs in front of his own. He has a special approach in problem solving –“Think outside of the box. Do not live in the box.” His unique taste in music was a bit confusing for those listening.  His mixed playlist consisted of easy listening, Irish folkdance, polka, jazz, hard-rock, and big band, always wondering what song would play next.  Mark will forever be remembered for his ‘stress baking’ resulting in delicious raspberry muffins and pies.

Mark was proceeded in death by his sister Kim; stepfather, Kenneth Zuleger; grandparents, Alex and Loretta Stern, Harry and Delores Huntington.

He leaves behind his loving wife Mary; sons, Nathan (fiancée Lauren) and Justin (Kelsi); granddaughter, Olivia “Bubbles”, future step grandchildren Kallie and Maxwel; parents, Joseph Huntington and Maureen Zuleger; brothers, Paul (Sherry), Jeff (Susan) and beloved 4-legged daughter, Kiki.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 25th, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton. Visitation from 3:00 -6:00 pm with service to follow.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the caring nurses in the ICU and compassionate staff at the Cancer Center at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital.  They would also like to thank Service Motor Company, Inc. and Kevin at Crossroads Custom Cabinetry for their support and understanding during this difficult time. Additionally, we thank numerous friends and neighbors who helped out and allowed Mark and Mary to spend time together, you will always be considered close family.

Requests for copies of photos from friends and family to share your treasured memories of Mark for the poster boards would be welcomed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be deeply appreciated.
