Marion Rita Baumann, Town of Grand Chute, age 87, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother-to-be, sister and friend, passed away Monday morning, February 23, 2015, at Appleton Medical Center. Marion was born April 1, 1927, in the township of Oshkosh, Winnebago County, Wisconsin, to the late August C. and Rose (Yost) Andresen. On June 7, 1947, Marion was united in marriage to Clement V. Baumann and he preceded her in death on February 25, 1996.
Marion was a charter member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and volunteered in several capacities for many years. She especially enjoyed her work with the funeral dinners and with the St. Cecelia group, where she produced many hand-made items for the benefit of the parish. Marion enjoyed making quilts with her sisters, reading, writing notes and letters to family and friends, and spending time in Townsend.
She is survived by six children: Sr. Diane Baumann, New London; James Baumann, New London; Rose (Randy) Van Denzen, Weyauwega; Kay (Timothy) Nickasch, Appleton; Steven (Michelle) Baumann, Davenport, Iowa; Patrick (Anne Bertino) Baumann, Eastsound, Washington; two grandchildren: Brian (Elizabeth) Van Denzen and Jessica (Andrew) Fleek; one sister, Eileen Baumann; sisters-in-law: Clara Baumann, Jean Baumann and Marie Bushman; and many special nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband and parents; sisters: Marguerite (Frank) Pelles; Jeanette (Joseph) Baumann; brother, Charles (Katherine) Andresen; brothers-in-law: Carl Baumann, Claire (Leona) Baumann, George Baumann, Henry Baumann, Nicholas Baumann, Raymond (Virginia) Baumann, Eugene Bushman, Eugene Weyers; sisters-in-law: Marie Therese Baumann, Elizabeth (Russell) Burns, Gertrude (Emmett) Decker, Blanche (Richard) Strelka.
The funeral liturgy for Marion will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, with Father Gerald R. Falk officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established for St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
