Marilynn C. Weyenberg

August 12, 1924 — October 17, 2016

Marilynn Weyenberg, age 92 of Appleton, passed away at her home on Monday evening, October 17, 2016. Marilynn was born in Appleton on August 12, 1924, daughter of the late Carl and Mary “Marie” (Kagerbauer) Fose. She was a 1942 graduate of the Appleton High School, and as a young woman worked as a Supervisor at Wisconsin Michigan Power Company for fifteen years. On July 6, 1957, she married the love of her life – Robert H. Weyenberg, and together the couple was blessed with three children. Robert preceded Marilynn in death on October 13, 1995. For many years, Marilynn worked as a clerk and department manager at Gimbels, Marshall Field's, Herberger's and Younkers Department Stores in downtown Appleton.

Marilynn was a genuine and kind-hearted woman who always put the needs of others before those of her own. Lovingly known as “Nana”, she was the life of the party, enjoyed meeting new people, and loved being with family and friends. She also had an incredible memory, which meant that she always had entertaining stories to share. She lived a good life, and enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. Her amazing sense of adventure meant that you never knew where you would end up when you were with Nana; she even made it to the top of the Blarney Castle.

Marilynn is survived by three children: Lisa Klapper of Appleton, Lynn (Bernard) Sagan of Appleton, and Steven Weyenberg of Sun Prairie; eight grandchildren: Shellan (Kelly) Retzlaff and their children Grahme and Mackenzie; Justin Klapper and his daughter Josalyn; Kaitlyn Sagan; Madelyn Sagan; Karalyn Sagan; Mikayla Zimmerman; Carlton Weyenberg; and Alexis Weyenberg. Marilynn is also survived by a sister: Dorothy (John) Rath of Appleton; her in-laws: Donald (Betty) Weyenberg of Kimberly and Lois Nollenberg of Shiocton; and dear family friends: Brenda B. Purdy, and Evelyn (loved one of Russell Weyenberg), as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, a brother Carlton Fose, a sister Betty “B.J.” (Robert “Hap”) Hoolihan, and in-laws Don Nollenberg, Russell Weyenberg, Sr. Mary Leona (Dorothy), Mary Ann (Emmett) Vandenberg, and Laverne (Clarence) Huisman.
