Obituary

Margery Carter Balliette went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 9th, 2026. Marge was very blessed to be adopted by Dr. Homer and Eleanor Carter as an infant and grew up in Madison, WI. She graduated from UW Madison with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. Music was an integral, cherished part of Marge’s life. She studied piano and cello for many years. While in high school and college she was a member of many choirs and sang with the Tudor Singers of Madison. She was also a member of the Madison String Symphonia as first chair cello and the Madison Civic Symphony Orchestra.

Marge married Stanley Balliette in August of 1951. She treasured being a housewife and a loving mother to her five children. Later in life, Marge worked as a teacher’s aide in the Appleton Area School District in Special Education. She also worked in retail security and customer service for many years.

Marge is survived by her children Nancy DeDecker (Randy - Deceased), Craig Balliette (Brittany), Dirck Balliette (Lynda) and David Balliette; grandchildren Laura Malzon (Jeremy), James DeDecker (Lucy), Marcus Balliette, Chase Balliette, Nicole Fraley (Matthew), and Ami White; as well as many loving great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Homer and Eleanor Carter, her brother James Carter and his wife Beverly, and her son, Bruce, who passed away in January of 2016.

Marge became a child of God in 1976 and has wholeheartedly studied the Word and lived for the Lord since that time. She could often be found at a church function or reading her Bible or books on Christian Living and devotedly wrote cards and letters of encouragement to many throughout the years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00AM, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Appleton Community Evangelical Free Church, 2490 W. Capitol Dr., Appleton. Marge’s family will greet guests on Saturday at the church from 9AM until the celebration.
