Margaret M Verkuilen age 89 passed away peacefully on Thursday September 4, 2025, at Bethel Home in Oshkosh, WI. She was born on May 25, 1936, in Menasha, WI - the daughter of the late Herman and Hazel (Sensenbrenner) Grade. Margaret married her high school sweetheart Edward J Verkuilen on May 5, 1956, at St. Mary's Parish in Menasha. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2005.
Margaret's passion was her family; her favorite place to be was at home surrounded by family and friends enjoying her delicious meals. Her favorite destinations include: - the Grade Cottage on Forest Lake (enjoyed with her brothers Jack and Tom Grade and their families – including 20 Nieces and Nephews). In addition, traveling to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (home to sister MaryAnn Bronzyk and family) where adventures began & memories were made. Family was everything.
Margaret and her family were proud of her career at a local Menasha bank where her management skills and mathematical ability ultimately resulted in promotion to Vice President. Margaret’s hobbies included gardening and knitting. Sister-in-law Shirley Grade, (proprietor of The Yarn House in Elm Grove, WI) ensured a continuous yarn supply and through Margaret's hands a hat and sweater were created for all.
Margaret is survived by her son Edward (Cece) Verkuilen of Geneva, IL and daughter Susan (Thomas) Kramlich of Green Lake, WI ; grandchildren Spencer, Ben (Marie), Katy (Ben), Scott, Chad (Erika), Corey (Michelle), Heather, Ashley, Joe, Hunter; great grandchildren Hazel, Ben, Maddie, Nathan (Hillary), Alexis, Jonathan, Emily, Matthew, Miranda, Mariah, Camron, Landon, Ava, Jaidyn, Olivia; sisters-in-law Jean Grade, Carolyn Verkuilen, Lorraine Beachkofski and many nieces, nephews & friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Edward, children Cheryl and Jeffrey, brothers Jack Grade & Tom Grade, sister MaryAnn Bronzyk, brothers-in-law Jack Bronzyk, James Verkuilen, sisters-in-law Shirley Grade & Agnes VanGompel.
Per Margaret's wishes there will be a private family burial and no service. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be planned in the future.
In lieu of flowers or donations in Margaret's memory the family asks that you treat a long lost relative or someone in need to a gift of your time and company at a local table.
Margaret's family offers their sincere appreciation and thanks for the care and compassion that she received from the staff and volunteers at Bethel Home in Oshkosh - they became a part of Margaret's family which made it truly feel like home.
