Margaret L. Nitzband, age 87, of Appleton, passed away on September 3, 2022. Marge was born on July 6, 1935 to the late Karl and Florence (Geurts) Daul. She was a graduate of St. Mary High School in Menasha. On November 3, 1956 she married Del Roy “Del” Nitzband at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton, and he preceded her in death on March 14, 2015. Her main work was to raise a family, but she also worked the Friday Fish Fry at the American Legion for over 40 years.
Marge loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially Cribbage, Bridge and Sheepshead and Scrabble. In her younger years, she liked to bowl and go boating. She was independent and feisty until the end, beginning at age 16 when she moved out on her own all the way to Island Shores.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Tom (Sue) Nitzband of Appleton; Jim Nitzband of Appleton; and Ann (Jesse) Rankin of Sturgeon Bay; seven grandchildren: Jason Amburn, Shane Huskey, Ashley Lamb, Michael (fiancé Kelsea) Nitzband and Tyler (fiancé Sarah) Nitzband, and twins Kane and Layla Rankin; 4 great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Colton and Ryleigh, and Holden. She is further survived by siblings: Terry (Jim) Young, Mary (Gerald) Lamb, Bonnie (Mike) Flasch, Tony (Laurie) Daul, Jim (Sue) Daul, stepmother Evelyn Daul, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Del, daughter and son-in-law Yvonne (Jerry) Cagley, grandchildren Emma and Violet Rankin, siblings: Karlon “John” Daul, Kenny Daul, Carole Wydeven, Sherri Daul, Larry Daul.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 11:30am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 North McDonald Street in Appleton. There will be a visitation on Thursday evening from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Wichmann Funeral Homes, 537 S. Superior Street in Appleton and on Friday morning from 10:30 to 11:30am at the church. Burial will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Island Shores for the care given to Marge the last several years, also thank you to ThedaCare at Home Hospice.
