Margaret Marie Buchberger Kraus, age 81, died peacefully in her sleep on August 12, 2024. Margaret was born on February 9, 1943, in Clintonville to the late Elder and Catherine (Brahan) Schnorr. Margaret married Douglas Buchberger and they had three sons who they raised in Appleton. After Douglas died in 1980, Margaret continued raising her family.
She worked hard throughout her life, including as a housewares’ expert at Gimbel’s department store and other retail stores. She eventually became a teller at Community First Credit Union and then moved to the records and archive department as an accounting clerk, a position she held until her retirement.
Margaret was immensely generous with her time, her love and her food. She put others before herself in all aspects and you could talk to her about anything knowing she would always listen with interest.
She loved immersing herself in different stories through books and movies. She was always up for a game of cards or dominos and only cheated when absolutely necessary.
Margaret is survived by her sons Doug (Shelley) and Dan (Julie); grandchildren: Doug (Tiffanie) and their children Eleanor and Jakob; Alaina and her children Trystan and Peyton; Brady; Haley (Megan); and Jenna. She is also survived by other friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Douglas, her son Joseph, her sister Mary, her brothers and their spouses Jerry (Donna) and Pete (Sharon) and other friends and family.
