Lynn Ellen Nichols, age 79, passed away on Wednesday July 29, 2026, after a long fight with dementia. She was born February 5, 1947, in Oshkosh, WI to the late Gordon and Lorna (Schreiber) Guetzkow. Lynn graduated from Oshkosh High School and went on to work as an assembler at Standard Components where she met the love of her life, Jerry Nichols. They married on November 1, 1969, in Oshkosh, WI and shared 32 years. They had one child, Lisa, and moved to Waupaca, WI, in 1973 where Lynn enjoyed being a reporter for Casey Homemakers for 18 years and a stay-at-home mom until her later years. She then worked at Journal Communications in Waupaca for 16 years, retiring in 2009.

She loved reading, puzzles, watching old movies, playing games (especially Bingo), going on adventures (which usually led to the casino), and most importantly spending time with her grandson Jacob who was the light of her life.

Lynn is survived by her daughter Lisa Van Cuyk and grandson Jacob Van Cuyk, both of Kimberly. She is further survived by her sister Karen Ryf, Oshkosh, brother Gordon (special friend Joan) Guetzkow, Oshkosh, niece Kara (Greg Smith) Ryf, Powell, WY, nephew Al (Becky) Guetzkow, Oshkosh and brother-in-law Gary (Mex) Romero, Waukau.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, in-laws and many family members and special friends.

Lynn will be deeply missed and remembered for her quirkiness, sense of humor, caring nature and thoughtfulness of others. The family would like to thank the staff at Brewster Village and the hospice nurses for their compassion.

At the family’s request, there will be no formal services. In Lynn’s memory, tune in to an old movie, take an adventurous road trip or lose yourself in a good book.
