Lucille Ann Bartman, age 96, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Appleton Retirement Community. Lucille was born on March 11, 1916 in Appleton, daughter of the late John and Isabel (Nichols) Koehnke. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1934. On August 31, 1935, she was married to Fred C. Bartman; he preceded her in death in 1997. Lucille loved knitting, crocheting, and sewing, and often enjoyed those hobbies with her Appleton Homemakers club. She did a lot of tour traveling in the United States and Europe. Lucille loved listening to music, especially big band music, and listening to her books on tape, provided by the Wisconsin Talking Book and Braille Library. She also loved ballroom dancing, playing cards, and playing bingo. Lucille was well-liked by everyone she knew, especially her fellow residents and the staff at the Appleton Retirement Community.
Lucille is survived by her children, Terry Bartman, Tom (Mona) Bartman, Mary (Gordon) Neitzke, Don (Lil) Bartman, and Sue (Rob) Draxler; her grandchildren, Tami McCracken, Tresa Bartman, Christopher Bartman, Lisa Watkins, Tom Bartman, Angela Greenberg, Karla Brekke, Katie Boegh, Tony Bartman, and Michelle, Bonnie, and Victoria Draxler; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was further preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Harry Koehnke; and one sister, Ellen LeMoine.
The memorial service for Lucille will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Friends may call on Thursday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lucille's name may be made to the Wisconsin Talking Book and Braille Library, 813 West Wells St., Milwaukee, WI 53233, (414) 286-3045.
