Lowell A. Holverson

February 8, 1934 — November 6, 2021

Lowell A. Holverson, age 87, of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021. He was born February 8, 1934, to Marvin and Edith (Carpenter) Holverson and attended New London High School. He met the love of his life, Neita Nelson, as teenagers while attending the Luther League youth group at Grace Lutheran Church. In 1957, he and Neita were married at Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester.

Lowell served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 and was stationed in Europe during the Korean War. In the years that followed, he worked for the Wisconsin Electric Power company. After 37 years of service, he retired in 1994.The privilege of a recent Honor Flight for veterans was a memorable experience for him.

Lowell had many hobbies, including beekeeping, tending to his orchard, auto and small engine repair, woodworking, dog showing, gardening, home improvement, and watching his favorite sports teams. Growing up on the farm was deep in Lowell’s heart. He always looked at the world through the eyes of a farmer, growing all sorts of fruits and vegetables. Family, friends, and the school cafeteria all benefitted from his labor.

Lowell lived a long and full life with a strong, close family that made the many good times that much more enjoyable and the challenging times more bearable.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Neita Holverson of Appleton; four children: Greg Holverson of Kenosha, Nola (Tim) Endres of Madison, Todd Holverson of Appleton, and Dallas (Kelly) Holverson of Pensacola, Florida; four grandchildren: Laurin (Andy) Dodd of Fox Crossing and Alissa Endres, Deanna Endres, and Teddy Endres of Madison; two great-grandchildren: Adira Dodd and Elora Dodd; a brother Earl (Peggy) Holverson; in-laws Don Abel and June Thompson; an uncle Bud Carpenter, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
