IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis Jay
Trettin-Nelson
March 13, 2026 – March 13, 2026
Louis Jay Trettin-Nelson was born on March 13, 2026 at 12:22 pm to his loving parents, Tyler and Lizzie Trettin-Nelson. He passed away peacefully in his mom’s arms shortly after birth and into the arms of Jesus. Although his life was short, he was immensely loved and forever changed the lives of those who knew him and loved him.
At their 20 week anatomy scan, his parents found out that he had a rare and fatal condition called Limb Body Wall Complex. Over the next 4 months, they enjoyed making memories with Louis, whose name fittingly means “warrior.” Their favorite memories are reading him bedtime stories every single night.
Louis, nicknamed “Louie,” is survived by his parents - Tyler and Lizzie Trettin-Nelson; his grandparents - Kay Trettin, David Trettin (Bonnie Stone), and Kim & Daniel Kappell; his aunts and uncles - Chad & Jordan Trettin, Katie & Matt Peters, Kortney Nelson (Jeremy Piechota), Sarah & John Hurst, and Michelle & Mike Kavajecz; and his cousins - Nora Trettin, Sully, Levi, & Shea Peters, Ryker & Teagan Geske, Frank & Ben Hurst, and Harper & Silas Kavajecz. He is further survived by a large extended family and many friends who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents - Mary Lou & Jay Sanders, Kenneth & Janice Trettin, and Ruth & Ralph Hurley; and his great uncles - Mark Trettin & JJ Seidl.
Lizzie and Tyler want to give a special thank you to the delivery team at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah who made Louie’s birth truly beautiful - Dr. Vandenberg, Nurses Kelsey, Becca, Ashley, Emily, and Taylor, Anesthetist Mallory, Reverend KC Schuler, and many other staff members who were a part of Louie’s story that day. Also, a special thank you to the nurses who helped during recovery and allowed many beautiful memories to be made - Kayleigh, Morgan, and Christine. They also want to give a special thank you to Jennifer Tabbert for volunteering her beautiful photography services through Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to organizations that support families going through similar situations - such as Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep or the N-E-W Healing Hive.
But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14
