Loretta Hildegard Zenke, was born on August 31, 1910, in Wausau, Wisconsin. She was called home by the Lord on May 24 after 101, faith-filled years. Loretta enjoyed a successful career as a secretary for the Wisconsin-Michigan Power Company. A pioneer for her time, she was one of the first single women to adopt a child in the state of Wisconsin. A girl when women's suffrage became a reality, she faithfully exercised her right to vote in every direction of her life. She loved to care for her flowers and vegetable gardens as well as fruit trees. She was an excellent seamstress, including quilting, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, and other needlework. She was a deeply devoted mother, beloved grandmother and the most generous of friends; her endlessly loving nature will be fondly remembered and cherished by all she touched.
Loretta was preceeded in death by her daughter in law: Diane Zenke; and brothers Myron (Dorothy) Zenke and Howard (Dorothy) Zenke. She is survived by her son: Patrick Zenke; grandson: Ryan (Beth) Zenke; close friends: Audrey Wirkes and Carol Mauthe; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful care given to Loretta by various in-home services and Theda Clark Peabody Manor, Birch Cottage.
The visitation for Loretta will be held at Peace United Method Church 2300 Wisconsin Avenue, Kaukauna, Wisconsin, on Wednesday May 30, 2012 beginning at 10:00 AM. The funeral Service with Rev. Tim Albrecht officiating will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Wisconsin Humane Society in memory of Loretta and her deep love for animals.
