Lois Carol Bloom

Lois Carol (Birkholz) Bloom, 80, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on January 19, 1944, in Green Bay, WI, the daughter of Norman and Phyllis (Beale) Birkholz.

Lois graduated from West De Pere High School in 1962, and attended College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and later a Master’s Degree in Counseling.

In December 1983, Lois married the love of her life, Sanford (Sandy) Walter Bloom, in Oshkosh, WI.

Lois worked as a registered nurse at Winnebago Mental Health Institute in Oshkosh, WI and as a family therapist at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, WI.

Lois enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, drawing, family genealogy research, traveling, reading, writing poetry, taking care of her furry animal friends, and was a life-long Green Bay Packers fan.

Lois was a compassionate loving soul who will be deeply missed by her husband; her children, Kevin (Veronica) Quinette, Todd (Lauri) Quinette, stepson Jeremy (Kathi) Bloom; her grandchildren, Kara, Logan, Emily, and Ryan Quinette and step-grandchildren Jacob and Keira Bloom; her brother Stephen (Joan) Birkholz and their children Chad and Ryan; as well as her beloved dog Lily. 

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Norman Carl Birkholz and Phyllis Mae Gallardo (Birkholz).

A funeral service for Lois will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 11AM, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, located at 3009 N Meade St, Appleton, WI 54911. Pastor Kemp Jones will officiate. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church for a visitation beginning at 9 AM until the service begins. A luncheon at the church will follow. Lois will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
