Lloyd Van Grinsven, age 69, passed away unexpectedly at his Appleton home on July 4, 2013. Lloyd was born in Appleton on January 5, 1944, son of the late John and “Seeds” (Stuckart) Van Grinsven. For nearly forty years, Lloyd was employed at the Kimberly Mill. Many will remember him for his love of golf – he was a member of Reid Municipal Golf Course and played with his best friend, David Schroeder, as often as possible. He also enjoyed wrestling events which he watched with his step-son, Tom Triolo. You could usually find Lloyd in his easy chair, watching all sports, especially the Brewers, Packers, and NASCAR.
Lloyd loved his family, and lit up whenever a visit was paid by his children: Tim Van Grinsven, Sheri (Ken) Frank, and Brian (Terri) Van Grinsven. He was also very close to his step-children: Tim, Christopher, Michael, and Thomas Triolo. Lloyd was blessed with several grandchildren: Tim (Breanna) Van Grinsven, Brandon Van Grinsven, Justin Dresang, Andy Verbockel, and Amber (Travis) Krause; five step-grandsons: Anthony Triolo, Corey Triolo, Zachary Triolo, Joseph Triolo, and Jackson Triolo; and his great-grandchildren: Ethan, Aubrianna, Travis, and Parker.
Lloyd is also survived by his wife: Carlarae (nee Barta) Van Grinsven; a sister: Alice (Jim) Ahrens; a brother: Robert (Ann) Van Grinsven; a brother-in-law: Jack Barta; and his nieces and nephews: Tom (Pat) Ahrens, Todd Ahrens, Randy (Sue) Ahrens, Mark (Josie) Ahrens, Kelly (Dave) Kortz, Michelle (Joe) Pedretti, David (Nikol) Van Grinsven, and Deanna (Paul) Klose. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and by Carlarae's son, Anthony Triolo.
A memorial service for Lloyd will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, Morrison Street at Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton. Fr. William Hoffman will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com
