Linda Ann Calmes

Linda Ann Calmes, age 63, died peacefully on March 2, 2024. Linda was born on October 25, 1960, in Appleton, WI, to Frank and Helen (Woods)Calmes. She grew up in a home filled with the love of her parents and her many siblings. She was a miracle baby who survived and lived as long as she did, due to the perseverance of her mom. Despite her physical challenges she lead a productive life.

Throughout her life, Linda was a joyous gift to all who knew her. She loved life and loved seeing people. The staff at the facilities and group homes where she lived became family. Linda was just happy to be around! Linda enjoyed playing Yahtzee with her friends at Primrose and Prairie Homes and was a social butterfly. She loved to hug, and freely offered her gift to any and all. She made friends easily and because of her childlike personality, and also easily drew others to her. She enjoyed watching old westerns on tv, could cheer on the Packers with her family and really loved KitKat’s!

Linda worked hard at her job at Valley Packaging and spent time bussing tables at Mr Cinders as well. Her jobs provided her the opportunity to be with people and make money for her KitKat bars.

She is survived by her siblings: Michael (Jeannie) Calmes, Frank W. (Barb) Calmes, Kathy (Dennis) Van Boxtel and Sharon (Stuart) Howard. She is further survived by many aunts, nieces, nephews, friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Patricia, Ellen, Robert and Barbara. In addition, there were many aunts and uncles awaiting her arrival at the Gates of Heaven.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday March16, 2024, at 11:30am, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N Superior Street, Appleton. Friends and family may gather at the home from 10:00am until the service begins. Linda will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.

Special thanks to the staff at both Primrose Retirement Community and Prairie Homes Assisted Living for their care and love provided to Linda as well as the staff from ThedaCare at Home for their gentle and compassionate care of Linda in her final days. Thank you for caring for her as your own.
