Liane Rae LeCapitaine-White (Giesen), age 56 of Appleton, WI passed away at home with her husband at her side on November 29, 2023. She was born to John “Jack” and Barbara (Franke) Giesen on December 1, 1966, in Appleton, WI. Liane graduated from Appleton West High School with the class of ’84 and went on to earn her associate degree from the University of Minnesota. She had her son, Carsen, and met the love of her life, Don, not long after. Liane and Don combined their families and married in October of 2001, recently celebrating 22 years together.
Liane was a woman of many talents and loves. In addition to snow skiing and karaoke, she absolutely loved fishing, but insisted on letting them go. She didn't want to hurt anything. She was called to the water and enjoyed cruising the lakes on her pontoon and swimming whenever she had the chance. She enjoyed attending baseball games and playing baseball with her family. Liane was a spiritual and religious woman and loved Jesus and Mary with all her heart. Liane also had a deep love for cats and, while visiting Our Lady of Help shrine, she took it as a sign that a stray cat who avoided everyone came right up to her and only trusted her, so she ended up taking it home with her and Don. She thoroughly enjoyed competing and winning at pool and darts against her husband. Liane also had quite the talent for music when playing the piano Don gave her for Christmas. During her retirement, she enjoyed taking road trips with Don and vacations with family members. More than anything, though, Liane loved her family, especially her son, Carsen. She was so proud to raise her boy into the good man he has become.
Liane is survived by her husband, Don White; her son, Carsen LeCapitaine; her stepdaughter, Kelly Knutson; her stepson, Justin White; her step-grandchildren, Riley and Aubrey Knutson and Tristen White; her sisters, Tracy (Carl) Schwabe and Brenda (Mike) Gillingham; her nieces and nephews, Philip and Jennifer Giesen and Allie and Jared (Taylor) Gillingham; as well as many other extended relatives and dear friends.
Per Liane’s wishes, no funeral services will be held, but a private celebration of life will be held in Spring of 2024 by her family. In lieu of flowers or a card, please consider donating to the Humane Society in honor of Liane.
