Leone Louise Taubel, age 90, of Greenville, passed away on September 9 2025, at Oakridge Gardens in Menasha. She was born February 13, 1935, in Appleton the daughter of the late Martin and Valeria (Schumann) Van Patten. Upon graduating from Shiocton High School in 1953, Leone attended Outagamie County Teachers College in 1955 and went on to attend university of Wisconsin Menasha as well as UW Oshkosh.
On October 27, 1956, Leone married the love of her life Raymond Taubel and they had one daughter Debbie who they raised in Menasha. Leone taught elementary school for 6 years at Cicero State Grade School, Oneida State Grade School as well as Tullar Grade School. Upon retiring from teaching, she went on to work at Aramark for 32 years.
Leone studied violin for many years both through private lessons and at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music. In later years she was an active member of Christus Lutheran Church, ELCA in Greenville. She also participated in the Greenville Women’s Club.
Leone enjoyed sewing, crocheting, traveling and when the opportunity presented itself, working on quilts at church. She loved spending time with her grandsons.
Leone is survived by her daughter Debbie (Dave) Bain, grandsons Bradley Bain, Greenville, WI, and Ryan (Kinsey) Bain, Vienna, VA, great grandson Theodore James Bain; and great grand dogs Layla and Ella. She is further survived by her sister Susan Lemke and brother Martin (Chris) Van Patten, Jr. as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, her parents Martin and Valeria Van Patten, brother C. James Van Patten; father and mother-in-law Joseph and Josephine Taubel; and brother-in-law Mike Lemke.
In accordance with Leone’s wishes, her family will celebrate her life privately. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.
