Leonard G. Bloy, age 98, passed away at Heartwood Senior Living on July 21, 2025. He was born to Adolf and Hanna (Mueller) Bloy, Sr. on October 16, 1926, in Sherwood, WI. On September 12, 1950, Leonard married his soulmate and the love of his life, Shirley Sternhagen and they had three children whom they raised in Appleton. Shirley and Len shared 73 years together and their life together is a true reflection of commitment.
Leonard was a gifted “fixer of things” such that, during his Army enlistment, he became a trainer to other mechanics in the motor pool. Upon returning from his service, he had a successful business in Appleton for many years. He and Shirley had a large circle of friends and enjoyed lots of fun and laughter for many years.
Leonard is survived by his children: Pamela Bloy, Tucson, AZ, and Timothy (Patty) Bloy, Appleton; grandson Jeffrey John Bloy; daughter-in-law Nancy Lang; sister-in-law Charlotte Bloy; brother-in-law David (Yvonne) Sternhagen; and many nieces, nephews, good friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley; parents Adolf and Hanna; son Jeffrey David Bloy; brothers and sisters: Ralph, Donald, Mildred, Florence, Raymond, Malinda, Margaret, Benjamin, and Adolf Jr.; parents-in-law Oscar and Lillian Sternhagen; and sister-in-law Jean (Bill) McDaniel.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday July 24, 2025, at 12:30pm at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N Superior Street, Appleton. Friends and family may gather from 10:30am until the service begins. He will be entombed at Highland Memorial Park.
Leonard will be missed by his children, but we are relieved he can join his true love again.
