Leland Marquardt

Leland “Lee” Marquardt, 73, of Appleton passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Lee was born on April 30, 1937 to Louis and Emma (Lemke) Marquardt. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and spent time in Germany and Lebanon. On July 27, 1968 he married Carol Huettl in Appleton. He worked as a machinist at Allis Chalmers until his retirement where he was in the International Aerospace and Machinist Union. Lee was a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoyed deer hunting and target shooting. He also liked Star Trek and watching Sci Fi shows and movies and was interested in photography. Lee liked to spend time with his daughters hiking in the woods.

Lee is survived by his wife Carol of Appleton, two daughters; Marian (Adam) Kolbe of Menasha, and Holly (Lance Ward) Marquardt of Glen Burnie, Maryland, two grandchildren, Kenny Weisensel and Evan Kolbe, a sister-in-law, Ruth Marquardt, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers; Howard (Lula) Marquardt and Melvin Marquardt.

A memorial service for Lee will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Tom Theama officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of services at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff on the second floor at St. Elizabeth's Hospital for all the wonderful care and support during this difficult time.
