Larry Brown, age 64, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, following a brief illness. Larry was born in Oshkosh on October 8, 1948, son of the late Francis and Alberta (Suess) Brown. He attended high school in Oshkosh and graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh in 1970. On September 12 of that year, Larry married Jill Lautenschlager; she survives. Larry enjoyed a career in retail with K-Mart, ShopKo, and as a sales representative with Marsh and Associates, and happily retired at the age of 55. He enjoyed fishing, golf, spending time with his grandsons, household projects, and cooking for family and friends.
Survivors include his wife: Jill Brown of Appleton; two children: Carrie (Bruce) Kornaus of Freedom and Chad Brown of Madison; two grandsons: Kaden and Bennett Kornaus; and six brothers and sisters: Mary Brown of Sheboygan; Joby (Harley) Whitemarsh of Grafton; Carol Brown of Germantown; Paul (Arlys) Brown of Oshkosh; Ellen Gutknecht of Mosinee; and Steve (Gretchen) Brown of Oshkosh. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Larry's family will greet friends and relatives from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Wichmann Funeral Home Tri County Chapel, 3212 S. Oneida Street in Menasha. A reception will immediately follow. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, ThedaCare At Home Hospice, or to the charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank everyone at ThedaCare At Home, especially Todd, for the compassionate and respectful care that Larry received. We will never forget your kindness.
Those who knew Larry will remember him for his very dry sense of humor and how he loved stirring up the pot. He will be missed by all who loved him.
