Lawrence “Larry” Allan Auxier, age 71, of Menasha, Wisconsin, passed away on September 24 after a courageous five-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born January 12, 1954, in Neenah to Irene and Herbert Auxier. Larry met his devoted wife, Rebecca (née Hett), at age 18 in 1972, and they married in 1978.
Larry graduated from Menasha High School in 1972 and later studied printing and publishing at Fox Valley Technical College. He spent more than 40 years working in printing and graphic arts with companies across the Fox Cities, including Winnebago Color Press, American Can Company, Pechiney, and Banta Corporation, retiring from RR Donnelley in 2020.
His greatest pride and joy were his two children, Luke and Brooke. Larry stayed involved in the community through their activities – coaching little league baseball and middle school basketball and serving as sideline ball boy for the St. Mary Central girls’ soccer team.
Larry enjoyed gardening, walking local trails, attending the Mile of Music and other local music events, and Burger Nights at The Dome. He was an avid fan of all Wisconsin sports teams and was a regular at St. Norbert College Men’s Hockey games. He loved his grandpups, Winnie and Lambeau, and was devout in his Catholic faith.
Larry is survived by his wife, Rebecca (née Hett); children Luke (Sarah Stock) and Brooke (Andrew Nuss); brother Al (Bonnie); and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert; sister Carol; parents-in-law Rita and Leo Hett; sisters-in-law Susie Roebke and Debbie Wagner; brothers-in-law David Wagner and Robert Roebke; niece Brenda Roebke; and nephew Shawn Hett.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (404 W Lawrence St., Appleton) on Thursday, October 2, at 4:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2:30 p.m. Burial at St. John’s Cemetery in Menasha will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family will gather any memorial contributions and donate them to The Community Blood Center in Appleton. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers who supported Larry, especially at ThedaCare Cancer Center (Neenah) and Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin.
