Laurelle M. Schierl

Laurie Schierl, age 68, passed away peacefully at her Appleton home on August 15, 2023.  Laurie was born in Iowa on October 2, 1954, daughter of the late LaVerne and Wilburta (DeBoer) Roegner.  

Following graduation from Cedar Falls High School in Iowa, she attended the University of Northern Iowa, studying finance and veterinary sciences. She spent her career in finance, beginning at Cedar Falls Trust and Savings and later transferring to financial institutions in California, Arizona, and finally, Wisconsin. On March 16, 1996, Laurie married the love of her life, Gregg. Together they raised two wonderful children, Hannah and Justin. Laurie was a dedicated mother, wife, sister, and friend to all. She will be remembered for her passionate love of animals, rescuing many, and raising, training, and riding her horses from an early age. 
 
She is survived by her husband: Gregg Schierl; two loving children: Hannah (fiancé Sean Ducker) Schierl and Justin Schierl; siblings Barbara Parsons and Donald (Lynn) Roegner; and Gregg’s family: Cyndee (Matt) Schroeder, Jennifer (Chuck) Vander Linden, Gary (Rick) Schierl, and Eric (Anna) Schierl.  As well as many nieces, nephews, colleagues, and other friends.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, a special step-father Paul Hentges, and special cousins Randy Roegner, Janae Steffens, and Jeff Steffens.
 
The funeral liturgy for Laurie will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, located at 1617 W. Pine Street, with Fr. Paul DeMuth officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
