Age 68, loving husband, father and grandfather died suddenly May 2, 2011, at home. He was born October 18, 1942, in Appleton the son of the late Orville and Mildred (Wenzel) Schubring. A 1960 graduate of Kaukauna High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a naval corpsman for three years. After an honorable discharge, he worked as a boring bar operator at Giddings & Lewis – Bickford Machine Tool Co. in Kaukauna for 22 years and then at KimTech in Neenah for 19 years before retiring in 2003. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Kaukauna, and a member of American Legion Post 41. A St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Green Bay Packers football fan, he enjoyed woodworking, watching “CSI” and “Law and Order” on TV and playing games on the computer.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years: Joyce (Hackbert) Schubring; two daughters and sons-in-law: Stephanie and Aaron Bloy of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Susan and Phillip Hau of Combined Locks; two granddaughters: Elizabeth and Olivia Bloy; a brother: Allan Schubring of Kaukauna; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marion and Carl Wenzel; as well as other relatives and friends, especially his church “family.” He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The Christian Funeral for Larry will be held at 11:00 AM at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna, on Saturday, May 7, 2011, with the Rev. Timothy Wilkens officiating. Complete military honors will follow, and burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
