Kirby Vanden Bloomer, age 85, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 8, 1924, on the family farm near Freedom. He was the son of the late Albert and Josephine (Skenadore) Vanden Bloomer. Kirby worked for Roger Bowers Construction for many years operating a bulldozer and doing backfilling work. He enjoyed working the garden with his Kubota, fishing, deer hunting, playing the hum-strum, and playing with his grandchildren.
Kirby is survived by his children: Mary (Alan) Vanevenhoven of Kaukauna, Sandy Bartelt and her special friend Glenn of Green Bay, Lori Vanden Bloomer and her special friend Bill of Kaukauna, Shelly (Melvin) Lawver of Kaukauna, Tom (Lori) of Appleton, Terry (Sheila) of Kaukauna, Gary of Kaukauna, Mike and his special friend Linda of Boise, Idaho, Albert (Michelle) of Kaukauna, Gordy and his special friend Vicky of Kaukauna, Merlin (Linda) of Kimberly, and Melvin of Kaukauna. Kirby is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Alan, Amy, Ann, Aaron, Timothy, Carrie, Amy, Tina, Tommy, Kevin, Chad (Kathryn), Brian, Tony, Johnny, Jason, Crystal, Cody, Danielle, Sheila, Dustin, Derek, Tiffany, Brandon, Nick, Tyler, Dakota, Skyler, Trevor, Damien, and Austin; great-grandchildren: Teddy, Alexis, Kenneth, Genna, Chas and Madeline; special friends: Tom Zoesch, Joe Horn, Steve Borchert, Mark (Mush) VandeVoort, Tim DeGroot, John Bartelt, Sr., Dana Hermsen, Chelsea Wisneski, Angie Matioli, and Buster The Dog. He also leaves behind a sister: Carol (Bob) Chosa of Kaukauna; three brothers: Harvey (Careen) of Appleton, Ray (Bonita) of Wrightstown, and Barney of Kaukauna. There are also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Kirby was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of fifty-two years Margarette, a son Tim, brothers Elmer, Herman, Leo, Ed; sisters Verna Diedrich, Josephine Fox, and Lucille Vandenberg.
The funeral liturgy for Kirby will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday morning from 8:00 AM until the time of the mass.
