Ken Donald Welch

May 18, 1954 — Jul 30, 2026

On Thursday July 30th 2026, my heart was broken as my husband Ken Welch fell asleep in death. He was my knight in shining armor, strong but gentle, and making me laugh every day. Although our time together was too short, it was one of the most important chapters in our lives. We were married on 08-08-08, an easy date (if you know you know), for almost 18 years. God drew us together to save each other's lives. Ken and his mother Peachy helped me end my search for a religion that felt right by showing me how to open my heart to the Bible and Jehovah God. Finding true love in the proper order * God, * husband, * family & friends that are now brothers & sisters. I helped him understand medical help was going to be part of this chapter. Through our relationship, his life came full circle back to Jehovah. We are members of the New London congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Kenneth Donald Welch was born May 18th ninteen hundred and fifty four to Donald and Darlene (Peachy) Welch. Ken, his brother Ronald (Toby), and parents lived on the Welch centennial farm in Black Creek WI. He moved all the way across the street, where he raised three beautiful children Heather (Paul) Nelson, Paul Welch, and Bruce (Ash-leigh) Welch. Together we have 6 wonderful children including Chad (Stacey) Reeves, Kyle (Hope) Reeves and Hunter Sagel. We also have 15 fabulous grandchildren Ben, Alayna, and Kennady Nelson; Jade Hammerstein, Jack and Betty Welch; Blake and Raquel Welch, Ethan Carton; Nash and Paisley Reeves; Emmy, Noelle, Teddy, and Mila (Coco) Reeves.

The business and skills of dehorning cattle was passed down from his father Donald. Now Blake our grandson carries the torch and holds the shocker.

In retirement, Ken enjoyed growing closer to his brother Toby and his wife Sue, as well as so many other friends, learning to enjoy trips away from the farm, sometimes as far away as Iowa, and jigsaw puzzles (he was a pro).

Ken loved life. He was meticulous with numbers. He kept track of everything. He enjoyed reading the Post Crescent, magazines, and the Bible. This man was BEYOND organized, he could find paperwork from anything, including the receipt (recipe) from the first car he purchased in 1972 and the business card from the man that sold it to him. He enjoyed raising pigs, hunting deer (just to see them run by), fishing (I recently heard him say the best sight ever is a bobber going under), playing Sheepshead any hour any day any number of players and last but not least SUNDROP.

He lived with COPD for 8 years. That battle has concluded with Ken and the disease declaring a truce and laying down arms.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves memories no one can steal. We are all on a train to paradise and he is now in the sleeper car. Act 24:15

Ken made the sun warmer on my coldest of days.

At Ken's request there will be no services. His family held a private memorial on the farm.

In closing, this is what Ken wanted his obituary to say "Ken died, white truck for sale".
