“Hey Kenny, the golf cart has headed down the fairway, and it looks like another Hole in One.”
Kenneth E. De Goey, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, has taken his final journey, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Sandra (Resch) De Goey; daughter Lori (Gerry) Post; son Ken (Amy) De Goey; grandchildren Melissa (Victor), Jill (Kyle), Billy (Stephanie), Leah (Christopher), Jennifer (Drew), Lukas (Makayla), Angela, Spencer (Jenn), Derek (Kelly); great-grandchildren Emma, Kayley, Zaveon, Dominic, Remy, Cris, Chance, Jeremiah, Etta, Anne, Freida, Faye, baby bump, and great great-granddaughter Novalie. He is also survived by his brother Jack, extended family, and many dear friends.
As Kenny arrives at the green, he will be greeted by Tuck, the big dog who adored his grandpa, along with his parents Margaret and William De Goey; his sister Lori Wildenberg Phillips (Billy Wildenberg, Don Phillips); his brothers Robert “Slug” (Janice) De Goey and Donald “Donny” (Geraldine) De Goey; sister in law Florence "Flossy" De Goey; and many members of the Resch family and friends who have gone before him.
In his 84 years, Kenny lived a life of accomplishment, adventure, and passion. He loved golf, fishing, hunting, and riding his bike. He was a good man who carried himself with integrity, strength, wisdom, and always a sense of humor. Though Alzheimer's disease became part of his later years, it never defined him. He faced it with grace, sweetness, and a twinkle in his eye, always in charge, with his beloved Sandra by his side, caring for him with the same love and bravery they shared throughout their beautiful marriage.
Their 63 years together was a love story for the ages, surviving every twist and turn, every road they traveled. Kenny’s legacy of love and laughter lives on in all who knew him.
"Oh, I've been like a captured eagle, you know an eagle's born to fly. Now that I have won my freedom, like an eagle I am eager for the sky."
To friends and family: Please don’t be sorry for our loss. We are deeply grateful for the gift of having such a remarkable man in our lives. His journey ended peacefully, and he is now free from the limitations of Alzheimer’s. We choose to celebrate his life, his legacy, and the joy he brought us all. So, tell the stories, share the laughter, and above all, enjoy the ride.
