Kenneth A. Worden, 77, of Appleton, died Wednesday February 2, 2011 at Cherry Meadows Hospice. Ken was born December 23, 1933 in Three Lakes Wisconsin, a son of Frank and Margaret Worden. Ken’s family homesteaded in 1935 to Alaska, taking a train cross country to the west coast, departing from Seattle on an old military ship to Palmer, Alaska, and finally settling in Matanuska, Alaska where Ken was raised.
Ken worked at Wisconsin Tissue Mills in the maintenance department retiring in 1998 after 42 years.
Ken is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia and five sons, Mike (Melanie) of Appleton, Wi, Jim (Karen) of Little Chute, Wi, Jack (Christie) of Grapevine, Tx, Joe (DeeAnn) of Greenville, Wi, Ted (Jennie) of Superior, Wi; nine grandchildren, Scot (Julie) of San Diego, Ca, Lucinda (Kevin) Sloan of Oshkosh, Wi, Andrew of Lodi, Wi, Eric of Little Chute, Wi, Bryan and Kirsten of Grapevine, Tx, Mitchell, Hailey, and Hannah of Greenville, Wi; one great granddaughter, Jade of San Diego, Ca; Ken is further survived by one brother, Richard (Pat) of Appleton, Wi, three sisters, Joyce (Bill) Osborn of Chapala, Mexico, Pat (Bill) Smudde of Milton, Fl, and Peggy (Jerry) Kain of Sturgeon Bay, Wi; two Uncles, Donald of Black Creek, Wi, and Del (Lois) of Seymour, Wi, sister-in-law, Myra Kinney of Mesa, Az, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH 222 E. Fremont Street, at 10:30 am with Deacon Jim Dennison officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday begining at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial has been established in Ken’s name.
Ken’s family would like to thank the entire staff’s at Cherry Meadows, Palliative & Hospice care, and Fresenius Dialysis on North Oneida Street in Appleton, for their care and compassion, and also his friends from the Monday, Wednesday and Friday 6:00 am gathering.
